WebGL and HTML5-based games
13:00 - 17:00
We’re excited to announce our first Standards Next event in Oslo on May 26th (that’s a Saturday), which is just the day after the fine Web Rebels conference. In other words, a lot of good reasons to put on your web standards hat for 3 days, and join us in Oslo for some great talks!
As with our other Standards Next events, this is a totally free event, and the theme this time is WebGL and HTML5-based games: this is fairly new ground, and we will try to approach the topic from a number of different angles, so rest assured you’ll learn something new. The idea is that this is an easy-going Saturday afternoon gig with a few speaker sessions, but also with the necessary breaks to give you an opportunity to sit down together and peek at each others’ code over coffee and snacks.
- Jerome Etienne will talk about tQuery, a simpler way to access WebGL (or: how to make a small game in 10 minutes).
- Michal Budzynski will talk about the power of modern CSS techniques, incl. CSS-only games and more.
- Rich Tibbett will cover new and emerging ways to interact with web content and games.
- Erik Möller will give an introduction to skeletal animation in WebGL.
- Jonas Wagner will talk about WebGL
terrainwater rendering. - Marius Gundersen will talk about using the touch events API in games.
The event will take place in the cafeteria of Opera Software’s Oslo HQ, in Waldemar Thranes gate 98. Just come to the reception on the 4th floor, where you will find instructions explaining how to reach the cafeteria.
You can reach the Opera Software office easily with public transport: take the bus or tram to Birkelunden, Sannergata or Alexander Kiellands Plass and walk for a couple of minutes towards the Akerselva river.
